Acclaimed novelist Sharyn McCrumb to lead an indepth presentation along with gravesite visit in assoication with the world-premiere of The Ballard of Frankie Silver on June 4.

In December 1831, Charlie Silver was killed in a log cabin on the Carolina frontier, and his wife, charged with the crime, became the first woman hanged for murder in the state of North Carolina. Sharyn McCrumb invites you to join her an intimate afternoon, as she discusses the 4-years of research into the facts behind the legend, an adventure that took her from western NC to Scotland Yard to Seguin Texas, gathering the material to construct her acclaimed novel The Ballad of Frankie Silver.

On Saturday, June 4, at 11:00am, participants will meet at the historic Nu-Wray Inn (102 Town Square, Burnsville, NC) as Sharyn begins to unravel the history of Frankie and Charlie Silver and the intensive research that went into her powerful novel.  From the Nu-Wray Inn, guests will go up into the Appalachian Mountains, with Sharyn, to visit the final resting place of Charlie Silver (approximately 12 miles from downtown Burnsville).  The afternoon concludes at approximately 3:00pm, which gives everyone plenty of time to get ready for the 7:30pm world-premiere of the play at Parkway Playhouse.
