The case and story of Frankie Silver has loomed large in the folklore and history of the Appalachians.  To this day, the events surrounding the murder of Charlie Silver and the innocence or guilt of his young bride, Frankie, are still debated.

New York Times Bestselling author Sharyn McCrumb's The Ballad of Frankie Silver has been adapted by Parkway Playhouse into an epic production that delves into the mysteries surrounding the infamous 1830's ax murder that led to the conviction of the young mountain girl, Frankie Silver. 
Sharyn McCrumb will be appearing at the Arts Resource Center, located at 269 Oak Street in Spruce Pine on June 3 from 7pm-8:30pm as well as attending the June 4 world-premiere of the performance of The Ballad of Frankie Silver.

Roan Mountain Native, Shelby Ashley, makes her Parkway Playhouse debut as the title character in Parkway Playhouse's world-premiere adaptation of Sharyn McCrumb's critically acclaimed hostorical-novel, The Ballad of Frankie Silver.

Evin McQuistion (l) and Shelby Ashley (r) lead a cast of thirty in Parkway Playhouse's sweeping epic The Ballad of Frankie Silver; which is adapted from the novel by acclaimed novelist Sharyn McCrumb. Based on an infamous murder that took place in Mitchell County.
