Exciting News at Parkway Playhouse Junior! 

Parkway Playhouse Jr. and Mainstage actor, Hana Stella has been cast in iTheatrics’ Broadway Academy summer workshop production of Junie B. Jones JR. Each summer, iTheatrics invites select students from across the country to their New York City location to advance their skills as performers by offering them the chance to perform a brand new adaptation of a musical in a workshop setting. Selected during Parkway Playhouse Jr.’s performance of Guys and Dolls at the 2015 Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta earlier this year, Hana will be working with and for some of the most accomplished creators of Broadway musicals.

During the 2015 Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta, GA, four of our students joined students from over 50 other groups to compete in the first annual Junior Theater Festival Tech Olympics. Parkway Playhouse Junior student, Elijah Briggs, has received a scholarship to participate in iTheatrics 2014 Summer Production Workshop of the original adaptation of DreamWorks' Madagascar, Jr in New York City. Elijah has also been selected by Parkway Playhouse Junior as the 2014-15 Parkway Playhouse Junior Theatre Ambassador for his work in New York City with iTheatrics and his portrayal of Jim Hawkins in Parkway Playouse's 2014 Mainstage Production of Treasure Island. Congratulations Elijah!

Parkway Playhouse's Director of Education, Mary Katherine Smith-Gall was selected as one of eight theatre educators from the 2014 Junior Theater Festival to participate in the "Freddie G Experience."

Mary Katherine Smith-Gall will receive a fully funded weekend in New York City complete with performances, celebrations and workshops. The weekend includes master classes with award-winning Broadway professionals including song writers, directors, choreographers and lighting designers. She will also attend a Broadway show, likely see a pilot workshop of an upcoming JR. production and receive a tour of Music Theatre International, iTheatrics and other festival sponsored venues and theatres. In addition to the extensive training Mary Katherine Smith-Gall will receive, Parkway Playhouse Junior will also receive $5,000 for programming.

The 2014 Junior Theater Festival recognized two Parkway Playhouse Junior students.

Lily Bartleson was presented with Excellent Individual Performance by a Female for her fabulous rendition of Mulan. This award was given to only a dozen female actors from the entire festival and is a wonderful send off for Lily's final performance with Parkway Playhouse Junior.

Corey Chandler, was one of four presented with the Freddie G Inspiration Award for his personal story on the whys, whats and hows of his decision to join Parkway Playhouse Junior.

Six Parkway Playhouse Junior Students featured at the 2014 Junior Theater Festival in Atlanta Georgia.

At the end of the Sunday Afternoon Awards Ceremony, six students from ten different groups are chosen to perform a number together. For the 2014 big festival finale, six students from Parkway Playhouse Junior sang "This Is Our Story" from Shrek Jr.

Those students featured were: Lily Bartleson, Logan Bryant, Kade Hoilman, Taylor Hutchison, Emily Sigmon and Logan Walden.

We are proud to announce that former Parkway Playhouse Junior student, Haven Jenkins, is the recipient of a 2014 Junior Theater Festival Student Internship.

Only a six are chosen from over a hundred college student applicants from across the country, who have previously attended the Junior Theater Festival. Interns provide general festival assistance throughout the weekend and attend a special master class with members of the Junior Theater Festival staff.

Congratulations to the cast of Pirates of Penzance, Jr. for winning Parkway Playhouse Junior's SECOND National Excellence in Acting award at the 2013 National Junior Theatre Festival!

Congratulations to Parkway Playhouse Junior's Production Class of Bugsy Malone Jr for winning the Outstanding Achievement in Acting Award at the 2012 National Junior Theater Festival.
