Why do you enjoy being a teaching Artist working with Parkway Playhouse Junior students?
Parkway Playhouse Junior provides students a fun and safe environment that nurtures their creativity and allows them to build lifelong friendships and social skills. I love being a teaching artist with Parkway Playhouse Junior because I get to help make these life changing opportunities possible. There is no better feeling in the world than knowing that I helped a student during a rehearsal or a performance. I love answering students’ questions and I love helping them solve creative problems. I simply love to help students learn. Learning and creativity is a lifelong journey. Being a teaching artist with Parkway Playhouse Junior allows me, other teaching artists, and students to take that infinite learning journey together. At the end of the day, it is this journey that helps us to build creative minds and a stronger community.
How are you passionate about the Arts?
I have been very passionate about the performing arts since I was a young child. However, that passion only grew after I discovered Parkway Playhouse and Parkway Playhouse Junior when I was fifteen years old. Since then, I have worked in many different areas of theatre. These areas include: acting, props design, set construction, stage management, sound operation, and many others. However, I am particularly passionate about working with theatre students and expanding learning opportunities.
Some of Haven's favorite roles have included those she had in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, A Christmas Carol, Sherlock Holmes Returns, Romeo and Juliet. The Little Mermaid Jr., and Pirates of Penzance Jr. [Parkway Playhouse].
Haven was a Stage Manager and Teacher’s assistant (2013-15) and a Guest theatre arts design instructor (2014-15) at Parkway Playhouse.
